Decorating the house and making it a visual treat for guests during Christmas time is one of the most pleasurable activities of the season. So, this time, when you’re hosting that large dinner for family and friends, why not consider making your table decorations as stunning as the food and festivities surely will be?
At IKEA, we love coming up with new ways to decorate and design our homes, no matter what the season or occasion. So, from our design experts, here are 4 ideas on how you can make your dining table the centre of attention.
Every table needs a stunning centrepiece to draw the eye. One idea would be to take a small wreath, preferably decorated with cranberries and small pinecones.
If you have a plain wreath, decorate it with your choice of Christmas baubles and adornments.
Place three pillar candles of different heights within the wreath. The little space between the candles and the wreath can be filled in with realistic looking green tinsel, the same colour as the wreath.
Then, add some decoration to give the whole thing that picture-perfect look.
Pretty place cards
Get some store-bought tags and Christmassy stickers, such as fir trees and stars.
Decorate and personalise each tag with the name of your guest, adding stickers to enhance the effect.
Thread each card through with a ribbon and tie this around the napkin on each plate. Special touches like these are great to make your guest feel even more welcome.
Festive tea lights
Small votive lights or tea lights in different Christmas colours such as red, green, and white can be placed on a long rectangular serving dish or tray.
Arrange many such lights in a row in the middle of the tray for an elegant look. You can fill the remainder of the tray with decorations of your choice.
Christmas card tree
This is an amazing way to use the old Christmas greeting cards you have been collecting.
Get a tall jug or vase (as long as it’s not transparent, it works). Collect some twigs and branches from the garden. They should be thin and not too long with a couple of shorter branches.
Place the twigs in the jug. Get your cards together and attach them to the twigs with some pretty paper clips. Add a ribbon or some ornaments to make it even more festive.
With these tips on making your table beautiful and festive, we hope that all your dinner parties and get-togethers are as festive and wonderful as your decorations.
